A wee update.

I know what you’re thinking. Mel, you suck. You never post pictures anymore. It’s ruining everything.
Well, I’m sorry dear friend. And I hope that these will remedy the distance between us:
I’ve been focusing most of my time on needlework projects that aren’t knitting. In other words, here is what I’m doing instead of finishing your [...]

Cars.

I have a problem with Cars. The movie.
Okay, so everything in the movie is metal and glass and rubber, right? No people, no animals, just machines with personalities. But, if everything on a car can be replaced, how do they maintain the same personality?
I think that a person’s character is stored in the brain – [...]

A nice little meme.

From around n round she goes.
1. Whatcha reading?
A: The Headless Hawk by Truman Capote.
B: Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury.
C: The Devil Finds Work by James Baldwin.
2. How much of it have you read so far?
A: 29%. I’m anal about knowing exactly how far along I am in a book.
B: I just started. But I read [...]

I suppose.

I’m just grinchy because of the dag-blasted weather! It’s terrible! It just makes no sense to force people out of their homes to go a-caroling and a-shopping and a-family-bonding when the weather is so bad.

Morrison, cont’d.

Well, I’m off to Reno tonight. See you in 1100 miles!

Thirty!

Thirty viewers yesterday!
Thirty!
Well, that’s about it. Today, I got three wonderful books from my Christmas list; A Lifetime of Secrets, Super Stitches Knitting, and Favorite Socks. Lovely.
And I’ve decided that “Super Stitches” is just alliteration, not a pun. Well, maybe not a purposeful pun. Dast, I can’t get away from the alliteration.
I think I’ll try [...]

The Janeal.

How to make “the Janeal:”

Crochet a doily. Or knit or tat it. Whatever floats your boat. Block meticulously, no matter how much you don’t want to. Measure the … diameter? Radius? Just measure it all the way across.
Knit a swatch in stockinette that is wider (but not necessarily taller) than the aforementioned measurement. It should [...]

Balls. Whoops, skeins.

I’m quite often surprised that I use these balls of yarn as often as I do. They’re meant for my ugly blanket (which I’m sure I’ll write an inspiring post about on some other Sunday), but I use them four countless other things:

Making toys for Winston.
Throwing at people (forcefully).
Throwing up and down in the air [...]

Haphazard.

This is a strange thing. The yarn that actually looks nice is not, and the yarn that looks crappy is actually quite wonderful. The nice pink and green fuzzy stuff is actually all acrylic. It looks nice, it feels nice, it knits well, but it’s still acrylic. It will still make you cold and sweaty. [...]

Dast!

So last night, during my last few conscious moments, I had a brilliant idea for this blog. I was going to write about something, and it was going to be BRILLIANT. And of course I didn’t have to grab the notebook and pen right next to my head and jot down a couple cue words, [...]
